Born in 1957 in Valladolid, Angel E. Lozano is currently Tenured Researcher (1995) at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (ICTP) at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid. He received his Ph.D. (1991) at the Universidad Complutense (Madrid), working at CSIC (Prof. de Abajo) in high performance aromatic polyamides. After two years (1992-94) at the Research Triangle Institute, NC (USA), (Prof. J. Preston) working on high modulus fibres, he returned to the CSIC as a postdoctoral fellow (1994-95). In 1995 he was appointed to the staff of the CSIC as a Tenured Researcher. In addition to the synthesis of new polyamides and polyimides for several applications such as: water purification, gas separation, fuel cell and photovoltaic cells, his current research interests are focused on computational modelling.
Dr. Lozano has published more than 70 papers and has been advisor of more than 8 Ph.D. students. He maintains effective collaboration with the groups of Prof. J. Preston (Research Triangle Institute, NC, USA) and Prof. B. Freeman (University of Texas, Austin, USA). He is the main responsible of the collaboration with the Surfaces and Porous Materials Groups (SMAP) at the University of Valladolid, working on membranes for gas separation.
During the last years, he has acted as technical advisor and expert in computational modelling matters for diverse research groups within the CSIC (Department of Medicinal Chemistry).
