Born in 1982 in Madrid (Spain), Marta Juan y Seva Martinez is currently a Ph.D. student (2008) at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid, working on the synthesis of polymers with gas separation properties.

She obtained her B.Sc. (2006) at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.
She was an Erasmus student during 10 months (2005-2006), at Radboud University of Nijmegen (The Netherlands). During this period Marta worked in the group pf Floris Rutjes at the department of Synthetic Organic Chemistry in the same university, on the synthesis of triazole isoesters as glycopeptides for potential biochemical and pharmaceutical applications.

In 2007 she started an internship in GlaxoSmithKline (Tres Cantos, Madrid) as researcher in the department of Drug Discovery Chemistry. During one year, she worked in the synthesis, purification an characterization of compounds with biological interest as mycobacterian agents.

Her research interests are focussed on the synthesis, characterization and modification of novel polyimides for gas separation.

In 2009 she attended the Advanced Specialization Master in Plastics and Rubber at ICTP-CSIC. She has a proved experience on a broad range of methods of synthesis and characterization (NMR, UV/VI, FT-IR, GPC, DSC, TGA).
