Born in 1979 in Valladolid, Paula Carretero is currently a Ph.D. student (2005) at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (CSIC) in Madrid, working on the synthesis of highly hydrophylic polyamides for water purification membranes.
She obtained her B.Sc. (2003) at the Universidad de Valladolid and obtained her M.Sc. in 2004 at the same University, working on the study of the reactivity of carbanions derived from stereospecific allyl phosphine oxides.
In 2007 she received his DEA working on novel polyamides containing sulfone groups in the main chain and hydroxyl and carboxylic groups as pendant groups for water purification.
Her research interest are focus on the synthesis, characterization and modification of novel polyamides for applications in reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF).
In 2006 he attended the Advanced Specialization Course in Plastics and Rubber at ICTP-CSIC. She has a proved experience on a broad range of methods of synthesis and characterization (NMR, UV/VI, FT-IR, GPC, DSC, TGA).
