HISOPOC
Framed in efforts to combat COVID19, this protection raises the design, manufacture and hospital validation of improved swabs with respect to commercial swabs through additive manufacturing (FA). It is intended to prepare swabs with better extraction and dispersion capabilities in different buffers, as well as the preparation of precise protocols for use and even their manufacture directly in the 3D printing units present in some hospitals. It should be noted that there is only one similar global initiative in the United States, according to our knowledge. At European level, only the hospitals that are part of this project (HvV, HUC, UPAM3D-HGUGM) have begun work on the development of these sampling kits.

This project brings together 3D printing specialists applied to private sector biomedicine (DOMOTEK) and the public sector, research centres specialized in polymer materials (ICTP-CSIC), research/innovation centers in the biomedical area (CBMSO-CSIC), HvV) and 5 hospitals in 4 autonomous regions (Madrid, Cantabria, Castilla la Mancha and Pais Vasco), all of them reference in the fight against COVID19 (Hospital Universitario La Paz, Hospital Universitario de Cruces, Hospital Nacional de Paraplejicos de Toledo, Hospital virtual Valdecilla and Hospital Universitario Gregorio Maranon).
